Sweet orange sauce may be combined with some types of cake like pancake, mousse, cheese cakes etc. Savoury orange sauce may be combined with salad types, main dishes with fish and poultry meat etc.

Depend on your dish, you may use the orange sauce to increase the flavor and attraction. Base on the basic recipes as in this article, you may combine with some spices and herbs together. Each spice and herbs you combine, it will create a new sauce for your sauce list with orange interestingly.

Ingredients:

For sweet orange sauce
  • 100 ml orange juice (green orange)
  • 3 teaspoons of sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of rum

Note: sweet orange sauce may be combined with some cakes like pancake, mousse, sponge cake, crepe etc.

For savoury orange sauce
  • 100 ml orange juice (green orange)
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of rum or ½ teaspoon of white wine

Note: Savoury orange sauce may be combined with salad types, fried fish, fried chicken or duck etc. Depend on each main ingredient, you may choose to add in the sauce with more spices and herbs, nuts and seeds suitably like garlic, onion, peppercorn, parsley, thyme, oregano, chia seeds, etc.

Directions:

  • Stir 1-2 teaspoons of orange juice with cornstarch well.
  • Heat a sauce pan in medium fire. Pour the orange juice into the sauce pan. Add salt and sugar, then rum. Stir them.
  • Taste the sauce if it suits your flavor. Add the mixture of orange juice and cornstarch. Stir continuously until the cornstarch cooked. The sauce is thick a little bit. Turn off the cooker.

For note: The amount of sugar and salt for both sweet sauce and savoury sauce are possible to be increased or decrease depend on your orange types. It is considered that rum or wine may help to blur the bitter of orange juice cooked. Although you may use rum or wine for both sweet and savoury recipes but for sweet orange sauce rum is better and wine is more suitable for savoury sauce.
