What is your thinking when hearing about cheap food? Perhaps the first thing is “unsafe” or “unhealthy”. Although “cheap” doesn’t mean that way always but it could lead us to connect these thoughts together easily.

Cheap food but healthy

Actually, we can have cheap food but still healthy by cooking at home or our deliberate choices of fast food and eating out.

The most important thing is that we have to plan what will be served in our meal. There are varieties of food that we could combine in home-cooking to get a delicious, fresh, cheap and nutritious meal. We can consider some of the mentioned food as: rice, bean, vegetable (tomato, lettuce, garlic, carrot, onion, sweet potato, broccoli, corn), chicken, fish, cheese, egg, fruit (apple, grape, banana), yogurt. There are many recipes using these foods which we can cook fast and simply.

Fast food and eating out are considered unhealthy mostly. If you yourself are considered that fast food and eating out sometimes are cheaper than cooking food at home, you need your deliberate choices and using them in controlled manner. This way will help you to limit the factors which are not good for the health. You should not enjoy fast food overly. It is sure that the balance of nutrients contained in food that should be considered when using etc.

Cheap food and the unhealthy

Beside the cheap foods which are safely from home cooking, there are cheap foods in the market which are unsafe considered this way or other way, and fast food could be at the first line. In fact, fast foods are not always cheap, because our trend is to get more than we need. The spices, attraction and convenience of fast foods make them to become people’s choices easily, especially on the west, and now be popular in the east too. Fast foods are considered to be unsafe for their rich calorie, usually more than our body’s need. They may cause the fat syndrome, heart disease and some other harmful affection to our body.

There is also cheap food which has originated from the unsafe sources. These foods may have the short expiration standstill, or have unreliable manufactured process and of course will be sold at cheap price. These types of cheap foods seem popular in developing countries and are one of the most common causes of diseases there. So in this case the choice of cheap food for cooking at home becomes unsafe to anyone.

Eventually, cheap foods could be our worriment or not, depend on what type of food is mentioned. Only if we are initiative, serious and conscious in what we take, we would reduce that concern.
